Looking to expand your rigging skills and take on more complex lifting operations? The CPCCLRG3002 – Licence to Perform Rigging Intermediate Level course prepares workers to perform advanced rigging tasks such as installing cranes, conveyors, demolition rigging, and dual lifts.

 

This nationally recognised training builds on your basic rigging knowledge and qualifies you to work in higher-risk environments across construction, mining, infrastructure, and shutdown sectors.

 

Delivered face-to-face at our Belmont training facility, this course combines hands-on practical rigging activities with safety-first instruction. You’ll be trained and assessed by a WorkSafe WA licensed Assessor and complete the requirements to apply for your Intermediate Rigging Licence (RI Class).

Course Details

This intermediate-level course follows the National Assessment Instrument (NAI) for high-risk licensing and meets the competency requirements for intermediate rigging under WorkSafe WA.

 

Training is led by qualified industry trainers and includes both theory and practical rigging assessments in simulated work environments.

Rigging for demolition and structural modification:
Learn to plan and execute rigging associated with controlled structural dismantling.

Installation of mechanical load shifting equipment:
Includes setting up conveyors, tilt slabs, and hoist systems.

Dual lifts and load coordination:
Rig for lifts involving two cranes, understanding force distribution and synchronised movement.

Advanced load calculations:
Learn how to calculate centre of gravity, load share, and sling angles for complex rigging operations.

Hazard management and safety controls:
Implement site-specific controls for high-risk environments, including exclusion zones and lift plans.

 

Assessment includes both a theory test and practical assessment, conducted by a WorkSafe WA licensed Assessor. You must be deemed competent in both to be eligible for your intermediate rigging licence.

 

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment Requirement
To ensure prospective students have the necessary LLN skills to successfully undertake their chosen training, it is a mandatory requirement to complete an LLN assessment prior to booking confirmation.

Training Outcome

 

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment and a Notice of Assessment, which remains valid for 60 days. To obtain a Western Australian High Risk Work Licence, you must submit the following to WorkSafe WA:

 

• A copy of your Statement of Attainment
• A completed WorkSafe application
• The applicable WorkSafe fee

 

Please note: The course fee does not include the WorkSafe application fee of $115.

 

KITA offers a service to lodge your WorkSafe High Risk Work Licence application on your behalf for $115, which includes administration costs. (This fee is subject to change.)

Prerequisites & Course Requirements

Pre-requisites: Participants must hold a valid High Risk Work Licence for CPCCLRG3001 – Licence to perform rigging basic level AND CPCCLDG3001 – Licence to perform dogging. Participants wishing to work on a construction site must also have a valid White Card (CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry).

 

Course Requirements

 

  • Persons must be 18 years of age or older
  • Photo ID must be presented i.e. current driver licence or passport
  • Basic numeracy skills
  • Basic English language and literacy skills

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): To enter our workshop, participants are required to wear steel-capped boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirts. Hardhats can be provided if you cannot bring your own.

 

Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements: Participants must be able to read, write and understand English. Bookings will only be confirmed once the LLN assessment has been completed.

 

Individuals holding a Student Visa are not eligible to enrol in or attend the course as KITA is not a registered CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students).
